Vancouver is a spectacular city, where the mountains are a backdrop to the waterfront. It is a cosmopolitan city with its own Chinatown and Granville Island - with markets and crafts, restaurants and bars and great walking.
Quebec City, one of Canada's predominantly French-speaking provinces, is full of 18th and 19th century buildings and narrow cobblestone streets - and is a World Heritage Site. Summer or winter, the city offers a unique experience.
Victoria, on Vancouver Island, on Canada's westcoast, has the country's mildest climate - and probably the loveliest gardens. Enjoying strolling around the inner harbour, visiting world famous Butchart Gardens and enjoying a lazy afternoon on Willows Beach. There are some excellent restaurants in Victoria and some delightful small hotels.
Some favourite destinations: Calgary - gateway to the Rockies. See the annual Calgary Stampede July 8 to 17.
Fleet of Tall Ships in Victoria BC June 23 - 26 2005. Victoria will be the first port of call for as many as thirty magnificent tall ships. There will be a parade of ships and celebrations continue with mock battles, crews parade, carving and launch of a traditional dugout canoe, demonstrations of boatbuilding, as well as live muic, art and a daily sunset ceremony.
Holidays in Canada: Spring Break is not an official holiday but schools are closed for a week (March 20-24 2005). Victoria Day May 23 2005 (always on the Monday preceeding May 25); Canada Day, July 1; Labour Day, September 5 (first Monday of September); Thanksgiving, October 10 (second Monday of October); Remembrance Day, November 11; Christmas Day, December 25 and Boxing Day December 26.
